Do You Have the Tools to Feel Safe When Tragedy Strikes?

Yesterday, on February 14, 2018, there was a mass school shooting in Parkland Florida.

This incident occurred about an hour away from my home.

I’ve heard from individuals yesterday and today who are distraught, panicked, and afraid – and rightfully so.

In times of high stress and trauma like this, it can be incredibly challenging to turn off negative thoughts or to feel safe.

That task, however, is essential to our well being and the well being of our planet and it must be addressed. If we continue to feed into thoughts of fear, uncertainty and panic, we will only hurt ourselves and others by perpetuating this cycle – which isn’t what anyone wants or needs.

So how does a person go from feeling petrified to send their child to school or to go and teach in a classroom where this could occur, to feeling confident, safe, and secure?

It’s a tall order, but in my experience – and I have a lot of it – it does not need to be impossible or even hard. The things that helped me most with past anxiety, panic and even PTSD weren’t Earth-shattering practices taking thousands of hours; they were short, simple things done on a consistent basis, every day.

If you’ve read any of my work over the past four years, you know I’m a huge proponent of mindfulness and other simple techniques for creating more peace in one’s life. These techniques are amazingly-effective for calming fear, stress, doubt and uncertainty any day of the year – but they are especially helpful in times of crisis or feeling jolted.

If you haven’t tried mindfulness yet, I highly encourage you to do so – today.

I have given out free tracks in the past and today I marked my Gratitude Meditations album down by 50% again – making it $10 for 28 tracks.

You don’t need any experience to use this album. I designed it for beginners or advanced practitioners. There is a short explanation on the album about what to do, and then you just sit back and relax. You can listen to the tracks in the morning, afternoon, or evening, and you can do them sitting down, standing or just about anywhere. You can download them to your phone, computer, or ipad.

This album really is the closest thing to osmosis I know of for developing more inner peace and feelings of certainty and confidence in your life.
