For a long time, I relied on others to provide my sense of worth. I expected my husband to get me just the right gifts at Valentine’s Day or on my birthday or say just the right things and, if he didn’t, I was crushed. After doing a lot of healing work over the past few years, though, I have come to realize that before anyone else can love me, I must first love myself!
Whenever I feel less than in love with myself, it usually means I haven’t been loving myself enough and it is time for a dose of radical self-love! This can come in the form of a pedicure, a manicure, a massage, some quiet time alone, spending time in nature or anything else that gives me joy and pleasure! Yesterday I took 10 minutes and wrote myself several love notes and put them in my drawers. I love doing this and I love finding them! I think next time I write them, I will ask one of my family members to hide them for me! How do you practice self-love or self-care?
